Man stabs wife to death over spending a night out
A man in Gulu district has allegedly killed his wife for spending a night out without making him aware of her whereabouts.
According to a statement released by Police, a Homicide team of detectives from Gulu Central Police Station in Gulu City registered and are investigating an alleged case of Murder by stabbing to the prejudice of one Laker Grace, a housewife aged 30 years, resident of Pece Lukung Cell, Pece Laroo Division in Gulu City which occured on 10/11/2022 morning.
According to brief facts obtained from one Ociiti Jimmy aged 34 years, the area LC1 Chairperson of the same area who reported the incident at Police, its alleged that while at Pece Lukung cell, Pece Laroo Division in Gulu City, the deceased one Laker Grace returned home on a boda boda where she got her husband at home and they picked a quarrel with the husband one Mr. Okeny Willy, a suspect in this case, an employee of Summer Source, an NGO based within Gulu City because the deceased slept outside in unknown place without the knowledge of the husband.
As the scuffle ensued, the husband allegedly pulled the deceased inside the house and stabbed her with the knife and died instantly. After that, it's further alleged that the man took poison and was rushed by his father one Okeny Franco to Gulu Regional Referral Hospital for medical attention in critical condition and being guarded by Police to later help in investigations after possible recovery.
The Police team of detectives led by the District Scene Of Crime Officer visited the scene and recorded statements from the relevant eye witnesses, an exhibit killer knife used was recovered and documented, body of the deceased was conveyed to Gulu Regional Referral Hospital mortuary for postmortem as investigations continue.
Police has urged members of the public to embrace peaceful means of dialogue to mitigate domestic related misunderstandings rather than resorting to violence that escalates into criminal tendencies.
