OPINION:"Rescue the lives of the people of kumi municipality before they die"

Kumi- I am writing this particularly to the responsible authorities in kumi municipality to find out a designated place for the heavy trucks to park. 

Recently, I toured kumi municipality but I was left in astonishment upon seeing a number of trucks including those for petrol parked on both sides of Kumi- soroti Highway.

To me, this is being reckless. We all know that a number of people use that road and others do business next to that road. Uganda for the past four years has had an increasing number of road accidents with 2022 taking the lead.

Why do we watch this reckless parking untill an accident occurs? I watched how an umbulence passed that point on a very high speed. We should not wait to see a nother car overturning from that point because those trucks will burst into flames and the entire kumi municipality shall be set ablaze.

Please act before it happens. We always watch on news in outside countries oil trucks bursting in to flames. 

The president gave directives during covid-19 period unfortunately, He has not yet issued a statement to review some. For example, kumi was I dentified as a stop over point for heavy trucks during covid-19. This was a mistake of the highest level. It would be okay if it was outside the town. 

Directing this trucks to park in kumi town has placed the lives of people of kumi in a risk. 

I want to call upon those in authority to wake up. Kumi leaders don't sit and wait an oil truck bursting, killing your people. Infact, government should buy land outside the town for this trucks to park. 

My call to government is that, improve on the road system such that this oil trucks should not be allowed to use the same routes with passenger vehicles. The ministry of works should not wait to write condolence messages when people got burnt. Accidents are now common in ugandan roads and we don't want to hear that a bus has collided with an oil truck! I assure you none will survive. All will perish.

Please, this is a serious issue. Better act before the prophecy comes true. I have written this with tears because I don't want Kumi municipality to be burnt when an accident occurs.
