President Museveni commissions Kingfisher Oil Waste Management Facility in Kyangwali
On 24th January 2023, H.E the President of the Republic of Uganda, Gen Yoweri K. Museveni commissioned Kingfisher Oil Waste Management Facility in Kyangwali, Kikube District.
His Excellency was received by the General Manager of Luwero Industries Ltd; Maj Gen Sabiiti Muzeyi.
LIL is a Subsidiary of National Enterprise Corporation (NEC), the commercial arm of Ministry of Defence and Veteran Affairs/ UPDF.
LIL was contracted to manage waste that will be accumulated from drilling of crude oil from King fisher Oil Field run by CNOC in Kingfisher- Kikuube District.
The commissioning of the facility coincided with the spudding ceremony of Kingfisher Oil Field.
The event was key as it marked the journey for the production of oil and gas in Uganda.
LIL along with its partner HBP, a Chinese Company that specialises in oil waste management have set up several facilities to manage, treat and dispose off waste including the solid and liquid treatment plants, engineered landfills, control, monitoring and production wells plus other environmental monitoring facilities such as leachate collection and storm water evaporation pits among others.
The discovery and exploration of oil have boosted services like the provision of food, construction services, cargo handling, civil works, provision of earth materials like rocks, setting up of training facilities, medical services ,and a produce market.
Present were: Hon Ruth Nankabirwa, Minister of Energy and Mineral Development, Maj Gen Jim Muhwezi, Minister for Security, RDC Kikube Mr. Allan Tumusiime Ndyabahika Stanley, the Chief Accountant- Luwero Industries, Eng Agaba George, the Project Manager among others.
