Uganda, Algeria sign several agreements to boost cooperation

Algeria and Uganda signed two agreements and five memorandums of understanding (MoUs) Sunday to enhance bilateral relations and cooperation in various fields.

Algerian President Abdelmadjid Tebboune and Ugandan President Yoweri Museveni witnessed the signing of the deals during a ceremony at the Algerian presidency in the capital Algiers, according to Algerian state news agency APS.

It added that the agreements and MoUs are in the fields of energy, tourism, agriculture, animal health, education and scientific research.

On Saturday, the President of Uganda Yoweri Museveni started an official three-day visit to Algeria, where he held talks with President Tebboune.

Algeria announced in February that it was allocating $1 billion to finance development projects in Africa.

Uganda and Algeria enjoy warm and fraternal bilateral relations, strong regional, and continental cooperation through regional and international organizations such as the African Union, the African Continental Free Trade Area, and the United Nations.

In the past, the two countries have exchanged high-level of visits, for example, in 2015 when President Yoweri Museveni visited Algeria.
