President Museveni heads to West Nile for the wealth creation tour



President Yoweri Museveni will meet and inspect different farms of selected model farmers in the West Nile region before addressing the population on wealth creation as part of his presidential tour.


Speaking to the media at Hotel Le Confidential in Arua on Thursday, Evelyn Anite the Minister of State for Investment and Privatisation highlighted the activities earmarked for the President on his tour to West Nile.


Museveni will visit Pola Mixed Farm in Nebbi district that belongs to Grace Kermundu, a model farmer undertaking the production of banana, cassava, fruits, cashew nuts, piggery, goats, non-fruit trees and apiary. The farm is 9km from Nebbi Municipality at Uthure village, Kaluwang Parish in Nebbi sub-county.





In Madi-Okollo, the President will visit the farm of Moses Obetia, a model farmer with cows, piggery, goats and sheep. The farm is located 63km from Arua City at Oyuu Village, Anibi Parish Rhino Camp sub-county.



Other farms in Arua district are West Nile Fruit Trees Planter, of Steven Apangu, in Pajulu Olevu village in Ocoko parish, Ajia sub-county, as well as the farm of Richard Abayo in Eyama Cell, Ewadri ward in Ayivu East Division.


In Obongi district, the President will tour Tom Abraham's orange farm in Liwa parish, Gimara sub-county as well as visit the Comboni Brothers Skilling Center that has piggery, aquaculture, and cooking oil made from sunflower seeds.



Morrison Rwakakamba, the chairman of Uganda Investment Authority (UIA) presented some of the issues agreed for discussion by the various ministries during President Museveni's visit.


The leaders drafted a joint memo whose details will be unveiled and presented to the President while others earmarked for discussion by various ministries have been listed.


The leaders agreed to discuss the status of the Parish Development Model and its implementation, payment of military veterans and ex-servicemen, investment opportunities and the real money economy, the status of road implementation and other infrastructure in the West Nile region.




The leaders will also discuss the status and progress of the Emyooga program, the status of electricity connectivity, and highlights of the National Resistance Movement's performance.


The team will also look into the implementation and impact of the Northern Uganda Social Action Fund and Peace Recovery and Development Plan programs in West Nile, the status of education, government interventions and securing the future of the people.


Museveni will visit the selected farmers on April 11 before addressing a rally at Arua Golf Course in Arua City.


He will on April 13, travel to Obongi district, where he will address the people of the Madi sub-region.
