ATMIS, SNA troops kill several Al Shabab terrorist who attacked UPDF base in Somalia

Troops from the African Union Transition Mission in Somalia(ATMIS) and Somali National Army (SNA) have pursed and killed several Al shabaab terrorists who attacked a UPDF base in Somalia on Friday.

According to a short statement released by ATMIS on Tuesday morning via twitter, several terrorists were eliminated and weapons have been recovered.

"ATMIS and @SNAForce troops have successfully pursued the fleeing Al-Shabaab terrorists involved in the #ATMIS FOB attack in Buulo Mareer. A substantial number of the terrorists have been eliminated. The joint force has also retrieved multiple weapons looted from the FOB", the statement reads.

The statement adds that, "ATMIS remains committed to fighting terrorism and will continue working closely with the Federal Government of Somalia, Federal Member States, and international partners to secure Somalia".

However the statement didn't go into details of the number of terrorists killed and the weapons captured.

Last week on Friday, over 800 Al Shabaab terrorists attacked a UPDF Forward Operating  Bases, destroyed several weapons and casualties were recorded on both sides.

In statement released about the attack, President Yoweri Museveni who is the Commander in Chief of the UPDF vowed that the attackers will soon regret their actions.
