East African Community Regional Force holds talks with North Kivu Military Governor in eastern DRC

The East African Community Regional Force  (EACRF) Commander Maj Gen Aphaxard Kiugu on Friday, 19 May 2023 paid a courtesy call to the Military Governor of North Kivu Lt Gen Constant Ndima Kongba, at his office in Goma, as part of his familiarisation tour in his new role.

The two commanders discussed possible areas of coordination and collaboration within the Joint Operations Area, Key among them is the effort towards achieving the common goal of peace and stability in the region.

 The discussions revolved around enhancing administration within M23 vacated areas, opening the Main Supply Routes, progress of M23 withdraw as well as government's plans for Disarmament, Demobilization, Community Recovery and Stabilization Program (P-DDRCS).

Major General Kiugu took office on Thursday, 18 May 2023 and is keen to engage various key actors within North Kivu to create synergy in the ongoing joint effort to restore normalcy in the Eastern DRC.
