Fort Portal man found dead few days after he was caught cheating by his wife

The deceased, whose body was found in Mugunu swamp, was identified as Charles Twesige, 40, a resident of Butebe ward, North Division, Fort Portal city, on Sunday.

Twesige went missing on April 19 after his wife, Jenice Giramia, allegedly found him with another woman in their marital home.

“It is alleged that in the morning of April 19, Giramia the wife of the deceased, went to her place of work at Mucwa, leaving the deceased at home,” Vincent Twesigye the Rwenzori regional Police spokesperson told our reporters.

According to the Police, Giramia on returning home after work, allegedly found her husband committing adultery in their house.

“Giramia went and attacked them and started fighting her husband. In that scuffle the other woman whom the deceased was with in the house, managed to run away,” Twesigye said.

The deceased disappeared from the home that same evening and allegedly switched off his phone according to the Police.

“The case of disappearance was reported to Police at Butebe Police Post by Giramia under vide SD ref 04/22(04/2023 whereby inquiries were commenced with a view of recovering the victim,” Twesigye said.

Twesige’s body was later discovered 18 days after his disappearance.

“His body was recovered on Sunday, May 7, by his wife within Butebe cell in Mugunu swamp,” Twesigye said.

She had reportedly gone to the swamp to fetch water for domestic use.

Police’s preliminary investigations point to the fact that Twesige could have been murdered.

Twesigye said Police visited the scene and documented evidence as investigations continue. By press time, no arrests had been made.
