Speaker Among calls for for investments in Uganda’s sports sector
Uganda’s Speaker of Parliament, Anita Among, has urged investors to consider the favorable investment environment in Uganda and help develop the sports sector, which currently lacks infrastructure for world-class training and support.
Among highlighted the untapped potential of talented athletes in Uganda and the need for stadiums, netball and volleyball courts, and runways to compete globally.
The meeting with Uganda’s Ambassador to the United Arab Emirates discussed stimulating business cooperation and increasing trade between the two countries.
Asuman Basalirwa, the MP for Bugiri Municipality, and Amos Kakunda, the MP for Rwampara, among others, attended the meeting, where it was discussed how to stimulate commercial cooperation between the two nations in order to boost trade and promote joint investments.
Among mentioned that with the necessary infrastructure, Uganda could host the Afcon 2027.
Uganda’s Ambassador to the United Arab Emirates H.E Abdalla AL Shamsi expressed support for Uganda’s development in the sports sector.
Uganda was recognized as the best investment destination in East Africa during a global investor award ceremony in Abu Dhabi on May 8th.
The country’s leaders, including President Museveni, have been actively appealing to international investors, emphasizing opportunities in sectors like agriculture.
