DR Congo MPs visit Museveni, thank UPDF for the good work done in their country

A group of Members of Parliament from the Democratic Republic of Congo(DRC) who represent areas of Bunya, Aru, Mahagi, Irumu and Mambasa paid a visit to President Yoweri Museveni  in Kyankwanzi today.

According to the statement released by the President via twitter the group thanked Uganda People's Defence Forces (UPDF) for the efforts they're putting in to bring stability in eastern DRC.

"Among other things, to bring acknowledgement and thanks from the people that they represent, the good work done by the UPDF in their part of operation and to thank the people of Uganda for always exhibiting  good neighborliness whenever there is need," the statement reads.

UPDF is currently in DRC fighting with ADF a terrorist group that has been terrorising the people of Congo  for years. Following the deployment of UPDF, Congolese have been able to return to their homes and enjoy normalcy. UPDF has another contingent deployed in Congo under the East African Community Regional Force on a peace keeping mission.

President Museveni says this is on account of NRM ideology, which H.E Tshisekedi has supported. "In that regard, we have discussed proposals to  strengthen business, trade, security and diplomatic ties, including opening consulates in Bunya and Arua," the President added.
