Forum of Parliaments of the International Conference on the Great Lakes Region delegates visit EACRF Commanders in DRC

The East African Community Regional Force (EACRF) on Friday, 14th July 2023 hosted a delegation from the Forum of Parliaments of the International Conference on the Great Lakes Region (FP-ICGLR) at the Headquarters in Goma, Eastern Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC).  

According to a statement released EACRF, the Force Commander (FC) Major General Aphaxard Kiugu, in the company of key Staff Officers, received the delegation led by the FP-ICGLR Chairperson Hon. Maurice Kakai Bisau.  

The FC appraised the FP-ICGLR delegates on EACRF's mandate, its posture in the Joint Operation Area, current security situation, milestones, challenges & projections, commending the involvement of various actors in finding a lasting solution to the instability in Eastern DRC. 

The FP-ICGLR Chairperson acknowledged the significant progress registered by EACRF & expressed confidence in the Regional Force’s approach to dealing with current security challenges. The delegates acknowledged the complexity of the situation that needs cooperation by all.  

They committed to engage the regional leaders on the subject matter and reach out to other key players towards supporting EACRF to realize its mandate.

The meeting is part of the many EACRF has been having with various stakeholders towards consolidation of efforts in the ongoing peace and stability process in Eastern DRC.
