Masindi: Woman arrested over allegedly luring a 12 year old boy into sex

Police in Masindi are holding Scovia Adongo, 43, on allegations of aggravated trafficking in children for sexual exploitation.

 Albertine Police region spokesperson Julius Allan Hakiza said Adongo, a resident of Kijura central cell in Masindi municipality on September 18, 2023, took a 12-year-old boy into her house and lured him to have sexual intercourse.

"When the officer in charge of Masindi Central Police Station got the Information, our team rushed to Kinjura trading centre. We discovered that the boy was lured to enter the room with the motive of having sex with him. But the boy made an alarm which attracted many people.

The woman is in our custody and the file has been submitted to the resident state attorney for legal action," Hakiza told journalists

 According to Margaret, the mother of the victim, her boy is in Primary Four at Kabalega Primary School in Masindi town.

"My son went missing from home on September 9, 2023, and has been residing at the suspect’s home who took it as an advantage to defile him. On several occasions, I have tried to go and rescue the young boy from Adongo’s home but instead, I would be assaulted by the suspect and her colleagues," she alleged.

LC1 secretary Sunday Kafumbe said the victim's mother sought their help, but they referred her to the Police since the matter was beyond them.

LC1 chairperson James Munaku condemned the act: "The boy confirmed to me how he was lured to have sexual intercourse with her. But this vice should stop".


However, Adongo denied all the allegations saying that the victim is a friend to her children.

"On that fateful day the boy returned with my children and decided to sleep at my home and I couldn't chase him," she said.
