Bishop Kisembo urges Ugandans to observe sexual purity during festive season

Rwenzori Anglican Diocese Bishop Reuben Bizarwenda Kisembo has urged Christians and Ugandans of other denominations to observe sexual purity during the festive season.

"Let's observe sexual purity for the good of our bodies and the good of our society," Kisembo says. The Bishop was on Sunday evening preaching during a Christmas carols session to a congregation that was partly filled with legislators and soldiers at All Saints Cathedral in Kampala.

Close to 1,000 Christians including those from the Rwenzori Kampala chaplaincy gathered under a white, decorated tent where they were entertained with Christmas carols and hymns.

Kisembo also urged Ugandans to desist from alcoholism: "Let us abandon Alcohol and instead drink water. This [alcoholism] is worse in rural areas where people no longer work and families are dead".

"So let us desist from alcohol and drug abuse which is now rampant in schools," Kisembo said. Primary health care state minister Margaret Muhanga who was in attendance  said her faith was now in the preachers to save the country from the high alcohol intake. "Society is wild in this country," Muhanga said.

On the issue of corruption, Kisembo said most of the corrupt individuals are 'people in our churches'."Every day you read a story of how money has been stolen and embezzled, how people have misused their offices. It is sad," Kisembo said.

He quoted Proverbs 22:1 while urging Christians to choose a good name over silver and gold.
