President Museveni in UAE for Abu Dhabi Sustainability Week: A Focus on Global Collaboration
President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni arrived in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates, on Monday evening, responding to an invitation from Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, the UAE's president. The visit marks Uganda's engagement in the Abu Dhabi Sustainability Week (ADSW), a global platform focused on addressing pressing sustainability challenges facing the world today.
The Abu Dhabi Sustainability Week will take place from January 14 to January 16, 2025, bringing together leaders and innovators to forge strategic partnerships aimed at advancing sustainable progress in various sectors. This year's forum is particularly critical as it addresses global issues such as climate change, resource management, and sustainable development.
Upon his arrival, President Museveni was welcomed by Sheikh Shakhboot Nahyan Al Nahyan, the UAE's Minister of State in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. The two leaders are expected to discuss various collaborative initiatives that could bolster Uganda’s sustainability agenda and attract investment from the Gulf state, as highlighted during Museveni's previous visit two years ago.
This engagement at ADSW comes at a time when Uganda is keenly pursuing partnerships to boost its sustainability efforts and drive economic growth. The government views its participation in such global forums as essential for sharing knowledge, exploring technology transfer opportunities, and enhancing investments in renewable energy and other sustainable initiatives.
As developments unfold during the Abu Dhabi Sustainability Week, the focus remains on how Uganda can leverage its participation to address local challenges through applied sustainability practices while fostering collaboration on an international level.
