Uganda, Algeria to discuss strengthening bilateral relations
President Yoweri Museveni has travelled to Algeria for a three-day state visit, at the invitation of Algerian President Abdelmadjid Tebboune, to strengthen bilateral ties.
“I have travelled to Algiers, Algeria for a 3-Day State Visit at the invitation of H.E Abdelmadjid Tebboune. I look forward to having fruitful discussions with him to enhance our bilateral relations for the prosperity and interests of our people,” Museveni tweeted Saturday.
According to the State House, Museveni and the Algerian President, Tebboune, will sign a number of memoranda of understanding between various sectors to facilitate mutual development of the two countries.
Museveni will also attend the first-ever business forum between Algeria and Uganda in Algiers.
Uganda and Algeria enjoy warm and fraternal bilateral relations, strong regional, and continental cooperation through regional and international organizations such as the African Union, the African Continental Free Trade Area, and the United Nations.
In the past, the two countries have exchanged high-level of visits, for example, in 2015 when President Yoweri Museveni visited Algeria.
