Uganda Aviation Expo comes to an end

The three-day Uganda Aviation Expo that was held at Entebbe international airport came to an end on Saturday June 24.

The Expo was organised by the Uganda Professional Pilots Association and the Uganda Civil Aviation Authority(UCAA).

According to UCAA Director General, Fred Bamwesigye, the expo and the airshow are meant to demystify the country’s aviation sector.

Bamwesigye says that up to now, aviation services are seen by many as being for the privileged but UCAA wants to change this. They want to take the aviation sector to the population so they can associate with it and also bring aviation to the public other than keeping it up there where many people are not reaching.

There was excitement at the airport as dozens of Ugandans boarded their maiden flight for the first time.

Nkaheza Joseph the owner of Nkaheza technologies company limited who was selected to attend the expo as the best innovator thanked UCAA and the Minister of Transport and Works General Katumba Wamala for giving him an opportunity to board a plane.

"Am very grateful to General Katumba Wamala and Uganda Civil Aviation Authority for giving me this opportunity to be on a real plane today, when i go back to Mbarara i will tell people what i have experienced, " Nkaheza said will boarding his maiden flight.

Nkaheza Joseph is an innovator who engineered a locally made plane and an army patrol car among others
