US Embassy flags off 23 Ugandans for Mandela Washington fellowship





The US embassy in Kampala has flagged off 23 Ugandan youth that will be representing the county at the Mandela Fellowship for young African leaders.

This year's fellowship will take place in Washington DC from July 31 to August 3, 2023.

According to a statement released by the embassy in Kampala, the students were flagged off recently and will be using the fellowship to get skills in civic engagement, public management, business, and entrepreneurship.

“Let’s cheer them on as they embark on an incredible journey in the areas mentioned above,” the US Embasy in Kampala said.

The Mandela Washington Fellowship for Young African Leaders is the flagship program of the US Government’s Young African Leaders Initiative (YALI).

Since 2014, nearly 5,800 young leaders from every country in Sub-Saharan Africa have participated in the fellowship.

The Fellows between 25 and 35 are accomplished leaders and have established records of promoting innovation and positive impact in their communities and countries.
