EACRF Commander visits Burundi contingent in eastern DRC
East African Community Regional Force (EACRF) Force Commander (FC )Maj Gen Aphaxard Kiugu in the company of his deputies Brig Gen Kaputa & Brig Gen Ndorarigonya, Chief of Staff Brig Gen Michael Kibuye & other Staff Officers on 24th July visited Burundi Contingent Sector HQs at Mubambiro, as part of his regular command visits.
According to a statement released by EACRF on twitter, the Burundi Contingent Commander Col Ildephonse Baranyikwa received the FC & briefed him on the troop’s deployment, current security situation, achievements in the ongoing peace & stability efforts as well as future plans in their Area of Operation before taking a tour of the camp.
The FC was informed of the many livestock recovery incidents by the Contingent, dominance patrols to enhance the Protection of Civilians, escort of civilian convoys to ensure free movement of people & goods along RP1030 & R529 & ferrying of students from area of responsibility to Sake & Goma.
Addressing the troops, the FC commended them for the achievements realised until now and the level of professionalism exhibited when conducting operations.
“Always be aware of the mandate given to us by the EAC Heads of State which we must strive to implement", he said.
He encouraged them to continue executing their tasks with wellness of the local population taking center stage & assured them of unwavering support from the Force Headquarters towards achieving the overall objective of peace & stability in Eastern Democratic Republic of Congo.
