Security arrest man who shot dead LC III chairperson, UPDF officer in Kotido
The joint security forces have arrested the man said to have shot dead the Chairperson of Local Council III of Longaroe sub county Lomuria Moses and a UPDF officer, Lt Issa Mayende.
The suspect, identified as John Modo Apakori was arrested on Saturday at around 6:30pm.
According to the UPDF, the arrest followed a joint security forces‘ close collaboration with law-abiding citizens after a tip-off.
It should be recalled that on the unfortunate date of July 2, 2023, Apakori who hails from Losilang village, North Division in Kotido Municipality intentionally and reportedly shot dead Lt Issa Mayende and Lomuria.
On the fateful day, the two deceased had held a brief meeting at Longaroe Trading Centre in Kotido district.
Since then, Apakori had been in hiding until Saturday when security forces nabbed him from the remote Kacheri hideout.
”After the criminal act, he (Modo John Apakori) ran to Kacheri hideouts until his arrest was made and hence the leading force recovered SMG number UPDF CP 3036 with 6 live rounds of ammunition which the warriors’ network previously stole from a slain UPDF soldier.” UPDF says.
According to UPDF, Apakori is now under UPDF custody at 405 Infantry Brigade Headquarters, Nakaperimoru Sub County in Kotido district pending thorough investigation and interrogations.
