Burundi First Lady pays courtesy visit to President Museveni

The First Lady of the Republic of Burundi, H.E Angeline Ndayishimiye on Monday paid a courtesy visit to President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni at State House, Entebbe.

In a meeting that was also attended by the First Lady and Minister of Education and Sports, Maama Janet Museveni, the President welcomed H.E Ndayishimiye to Uganda and thanked her for the kind visit.

H.E Ndayishimiye extended her appreciation towards President Museveni for his warm welcome and the great hospitality accorded to her.
She also informed the President that earlier in the day, she visited the Children's Surgical Hospital in Entebbe.

On the other hand, the Minister for Health, Dr. Jane Ruth Aceng informed President Museveni that so far, the hospital has carried out over 1,700 surgeries.

“We have 17 children from Burundi in the hospital where four of them have been operated and others are being prepared for operation,” she said.

“The hospital is for the region, so we have children from all over Africa. This hospital handles gastrointestinal issues which are basically abdominal malformations. It also handles cases to do with the blood and kidneys which are urological cases and also plastic surgery.”

Uganda and Burundi enjoy excellent bilateral relations which are historic in nature founded on shared principles of Pan Africanism and Regional integration.

Diplomatic relations between both countries were established soon after both countries attained independence and a general cooperation agreement was signed in 1986
