Busia school director on the run after defiling a Senior Three girl

Police in Busia are hunting for Jack Maina, a secondary school director of studies in connection with the defilement of a minor.

Acting Bukedi south Police region spokesperson Johnson Moses Mugwe says a defilement case was on October 13, 2023, reported at Busia Police Station by Winfred Nafula, a resident of Buchicha village, Sikuda sub-county in Busia district.

Mugwe said Maina allegedly defiled a 17-year-old, Senior Three student of Busia Border Seed Secondary School from a guest house in Kisenyi ‘A’ Cell, Western Division in Busia municipality.

Maina added that the concerned residents who saw the victim entering the lodge while clad in school uniform, stormed the guest house, and forced the management to open the room. However, Maina reportedly escaped and fled leaving behind the girl.

The guest house manager declined talk to New Vision Online, but referred it to a female worker who said Maina came in through the main entrance, booked a room and asked her to open that back door for his guest.

The waitress said because she was alone at the guest house, she did not bother to see who was entering but realised later when some boys came and ordered to check for a student who was in one of the rooms and when she knocked on the door the man ran out of the room.

Headteacher Aggrey Mayende said Police come to school on Friday to arrest Maina, but the deputy headteacher requested them not to disrupt the briefing for S4 candidates, which Maina was moderating, saying they would take him to the Police after.

However, Maina disappeared from the school soon after the briefing.



Pastor Noah Frederick, the executive director Gracious Samaritan Initiative, the guardian of the girl, said on Wednesday he received a phone call from Busia Police Station informing him that his daughter was in Police custody after being caught with a man in the lodge.

“Because of too much pain and anger I left her to stay there for three days as a lesson,” he said, adding he could not understand the wisdom of a mature man sexually abusing a girl who is younger than some of his daughters.
