Bushenyi MP aspirant accused of housemaid defilement gets bail

Former Bushenyi-Ishaka municipality Member of Parliament aspirant Kenneth Akanduhura Mugooha has a sigh of relief after court granted him bail.

The politician is in trouble following allegations that he defiled, impregnated and procured an abortion of his 15-year-old housemaid.

Akanduhura, 35, on September 16, 2024, appeared before Bushenyi High court resident judge Amos Kwizera over the charges following his arrest on April 17, 2024, by the CID officials on orders of youth and children affairs minister Balam Barugahara.

The order for his arrest followed Barugahara watching the girl's sad story on Vision Group's TV West in which relatives accused Akanduhura of defiling their daughter in Kyeitembe Eastward, Bushenyi-Ishaka and aiding an abortion and thereafter abandoned her to rot.

It is alleged that in February 2024, Akanduhura while in Kyeitembe East ward, Bushenyi-Ishaka municipality, forced a girl's door open, forcibly had sex with her and threatened her in case she reported the incident.

However, the politician has since denied the allegations.

Justice Kwizera ordered the release of Akanduhura on a cash bail of shillings 10 million due to ill health while his surieties are to execute shillings 15 million noncash bail.

He also ordered him to report to the court every after two weeks.
